Teaching and LearningAs you'll see in the Biography page, our Cheif Instructor also holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): he's totally committed to high-quality, effective teaching and learning. He is a member of the General Teaching Council for England, the regulatory body for school teachers. All teachers and driving instructors are subject to enhanced Criminal Records Bureau checks. You can inspect your instructor's latest report if you wish. It's clean... Theory and Hazard Perception TestWe can help you prepare for your Theory and Hazard Perception Test using the latest learning aids and through practical experience. A thorough understanding of the Highway Code is fundamental to beginning to learn to drive and to being a safe driver for life. We'll make sure you acquire that understanding so that the Theory Test becomes almost trivial for you. Developing your skills in observing the world around you, assessing what you see quickly and accurately and deciding how to deal with it are the core skills that will be examined in your Hazard Perception Test. You cannot even make an appointment to take your practical driving test until you have passed your Theory and Hazard Perception Test. We'll help you get there. New DriversNaturally, we're happy to educate novice drivers. We'll make sure you're a safe driver for life, then put you up for your DSA Driving Test. We're famous for our patience, and we absolutely do not cherry-pick. By this, we mean that we will guide you through the learning process for as long as it takes. If, by any chance, you're not successful on your driving test then we will stand by you through thick and thin until you do pass it, however long it takes. That's our promise. Other driving schools worry more about their headline pass rates; they don't want students who thrive with more individual care and more time from their teacher. We do. A great many of our students come to us after experiencing less effective teaching with other driving schools. If you find yourself in that position or have been unsuccessful in previous driving test attempts then please come to us. We've developed great expertise in reversing bad experiences and turning candidates who've struggled in the past into safe drivers for life. Pass PlusWe deliver the Pass Plus course. Pass Plus is 6-module course that gives you driving experiences in many areas that you might not gain before your driving test. For example, driving in bad weather, cross-country, on roads you don't know, in the dark. Oh, and motorways, of course. By taking the Pass Plus course you'll improve your driving skills, come to find driving more enjoyable and satisfying and keep yourself and everyone around you safer. You don't have to take the full Pass Plus course. If you just want to do a motorway course, we can do that too. There are about 20 insurance companies that give discounts to new drivers who complete the Pass Plus course. We'll give you the current list when you take the course. Advanced DrivingOur Chief Instructor is an Institute of Advanced Motorists Regisistered Instructor. We can prepare you for your IAM advanced driving test. Follow the link to the IAM for more details on Advanced Driving. Re-test PreparationIf you have lost your driving license or been ordered to take further training or to re-take your driving test, we will be happy to assess your needs and guide you to reach and exceed the high standard of driving required. Extended Test PreparationIf you have been ordered to take the Extended Driving Test then we can help you to prepare for that, too. Fleet Driver TrainingIf you drive for business or if you employ or manage people who do, have you taken steps to reduce the on-road risk? See our Fleet Driver page for details on how AutoScholar can help you. Driving Abroad Conversion CoursesIf you are planning to travel abroad and are contemplating driving on the right, either in your own right-hand-drive car or a left-hand-drive one, have you carefully considered the implications? We can help you plan the conversion, familiarise you with different road sign and road marking schemes and make sure you understand variations in local laws. Contact us for details. New Residents and Visitors' Conversion CoursesIf you are planning to visit or live in the UK and are contemplating driving on the left, have you carefully considered the implications? Do you plan to convert your foreign driving license to a UK one? Do you employ an au-pair? Are you planning to let her or him lose on the roads in your car, perhaps with your family as passengers? Are you confident they'll all stay safe? We can help you with the conversion, familiarise you with different road sign and road marking schemes and make sure you have sufficient understanding of UK road law. Contact us for details. Making AppointmentsWe try to be as flexible as possible in managing our appointments. Lessons can be an hour, an hour and a half or two hours. If you want to do several lessons a week that shouldn't be a problem. Indeed, it's ideal. Intensive courses are also available: you can take an instructor for a whole week and do 24 or 30 hours' lessons. Within reason and with notice, your instructor can pick you up and drop you off anywhere within their patch: home, college, work, the shops... However, we do inist that teaching and learning is delivered during the lesson: we're not a taxi service! The route from pick-up to drop-off must be appropriate to the lesson. PricingPlease contact us for current pricing information. Discounts are available for pre-paid bookings of ten hours. You won't find us to be the very cheapest educators around. But then, we're not cheapskates when it comes to effective teaching and learning. We're by no means the costliest either, as it happens. How many driving instructors have you come across who actually hold Qualified Teacher Status from the Department for Children, Schools and Families? How many are members of the General Teaching Council for England? We don't feel we need to compete on cheapness. It's all about the quality of teaching and learning. Isn't it? |
